Rosemary's Tears
Oil
20" x 16"

Rosemary's Tears was painted in remembrance of Rosemary's mother, Alice.  Alice was also an artist and many of her paintings were of flowers.  Alice was diagnosed with cancer in 1999 and given only a week or two to live.  Alice was a very strong, beautiful women but in April of 2004 (yes, 2004) she took a turn for the worse.   Her husband of 59 years, Bill, also became very ill and died April 14, 2004.  Alice didn't want to be alone with strangers so her five children set up a bed at her home in Alice's living room and took turns being with her.  Her bed faced toward a window that had a pink rose bush with buds not yet bloomed.  Alice died five days after her husband passed away on April 19, 2004 before the roses bloomed.  Bob painted the rose as a gift for his wife, Rosemary.
